William Foster Preston
TLC was founded and is led by William Foster Preston – writer, novelist, rapper, musician, philosopher, and loon. William is a thirty-seven-year-old MFA in Creative Writing candidate and Fellowship recipient at the University of San Francisco, currently living in Oakland, California.
Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, he attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where he earned two degrees in History and Russian Language, Literature, & History, as well as several writing awards, fellowships, and scholarships, including but not limited to the Alfred J. and A. Barrett Seaman Excellence in Writing Prize, the Alpha Delta Phi National Literary Competition Award, and the Levitt Research Fellowship.
William (“illwill”) has written, recorded, and produced five studio hip hop albums with rap groups Triality and The Downbeat Keys. Since Hamilton College, William has lived and traveled around the world and the country, working as an industrial manufacturing entrepreneur and for various international companies in places as diverse as Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, and several regions across the United States, before returning to school for his MFA, and to his principal passion of creative writing and music, as a career.
